  Nice choice of buttons. Works like the Win 7 Start Menu

  They love to sneak in crapware and ads for their crappy other software. Then they start pestering you to pay them for this to activate., You go to uninstall it, and they offer a free version, but then that one only works a few times till they pester you again. IObit is nothing but a bunch of scumbags

  If you like dealing with lowlife scumbags, use this. Otherwise, there are alternatives

  Returns the more usable Windows 8 menu while also permitting the new Windows 10 as an option. I've very pleased with hos this program works.

  No longer free.

  Summary

  IOBit products work well, but the company has overly aggressive marketing. Their uninstaller removed my free version of Start Menu without warning and did not replace it. I had to download a new version, only during installation to discover that it is just a 30 day trial now. They also install Advanced System Care every couple of months without notice.

  Start Menu 8 has always been freeware. The cost of that is that you have to be careful when installing, as you can end up with a load of unwanted programs sneaked in under the door. Still, anyone smart enough to find a program like this is probably savvy enough to avoid the piggybacked programs or at least uninstall them immediately.Version 4 is now out, and this is NOT freeware. That's fine - anyone who makes a reliable program to banish the dreaded Metro screen deserves to be paid, but they should tell you that the program is no longer freeware. If you update to version 4 you'll get a trial version with an activation link, which leads to the sales page for purchasing a licence.I think this is rather sneaky. Fortunately I still have the installer for the free version 3, and have reverted to that. Some day I may stump up the (reasonable) cost for the new version to reward IOBit for helping us avoid the stupidities of Windows 8, but I'm annoyed enough that I don't feel like doing so just yet.You have been warned!

  It clearly states for Win8/8.1! The previous release it described as being compatible with Win10. I wouldnt want to install this app on my Win10 PC after the last experience I had where I cant get to the "Metro Apps" start page even after uninstalling. It is good at making the Start Menu button appear on Win8.1 and can switch between Metro page page and Start Menu.

  Cons

  Not recommended for Win10 unless you want to permanently stuck with Start Menu without bothering to get the Metro App page even after uninstallation.The only way to get back the Metro App page is to "restore" or in my case a complete reinstall of Win10.

  Summary

  Not recommended for Win10 (although it doesnt the crash the PC or things like that) or for Win8.1
