Common issues | FAQ - RealmofThrones/Wiki GitHub Wiki (2024)

1. Why am I stuck in the first loading screen after I installed the mod?

ANSWER: Initial load times can take 5-30 minutes. We were able to reduce download size dramatically, but you have to build your caches. This is only the case in the first loading screen after you install the mod for the first time.

2. Where can I download the Realm of Thrones mod?

ANSWER: Nexus or ModDB.

Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/2907

ModDB: https://www.moddb.com/mods/realm-of-thrones

3. Is the mod on Steam Workshop?

ANSWER: No. When put on Steam Workshop, some users would experience half downloads due to its size.

4. How do I install the mod?

ANSWER: Check out #installation-resources on our discord for guides on how to download and install Realm of Thrones. There is also an Installation Guide in this wiki!

5. What is the correct load order?

ANSWER: The four RoT files should be in the launcher in this order: ROT Core, ROT Content, ROT Map, ROT Dragon. When using additional mods, RoT should be placed at the bottom of your load order unless stated otherwise.

6. What do I do about a pop-up that says it cannot load a .dll file?

ANSWER: The .dll file needs to be unblocked. Follow the file path in the pop-up, right-click on the .dll file, choose “Properties”, check the box next to “Unblock” (located under the “Advanced…” tab), and click “OK”. If the same pop-up occurs for multiple .dll files, do the same process for each. Additionally, some mods can assist with auto-unblocking these files.

7. Why are none of the RoT modules showing up in the launcher?

ANSWER: Check and make sure that the four RoT modules are in the Bannerlord “Modules” folder. If only the one folder labeled “ROT 5.0 for 1.2.8”, remove the folder, open it up, and take out the four folders inside (“ROT Content”, “ROT Core”, “ROT Dragon”, and “ROT Map”) and put those inside the Bannerlord “Modules folder. If this is correct, see the answer for question six (6) for different instructions. If you still have persisting issues, report it in the appropriate channel.

8. Why are only some of the RoT modules showing up in the launcher?

ANSWER: There was most likely a faulty download or extraction. We recommend using 7zip to extract the downloaded RoT mod. Additionally, make sure you have enough space on your drive. Start by attempting a new extraction first. If the same problem occurs, you may need to download the mod again. If this doesn’t solve the issue, see the answer for question five (5) for different instructions. If you still have persisting issues, report it in the appropriate channel.

9. Where do I go if I have questions about other mods alongside RoT?

ANSWER: The team is here to assist with RoT issues first and foremost. If you have issues with other mods, you can visit their Discord server for help or post your question in #other-bugs-and-crashes keeping in mind that the team may not always have an answer.

10. Are there any other mods that are incorporated into RoT?

ANSWER: Yes, Banner Color Persistence (with BannerPaste), Moloch’s Duels, and Stop Starving Yourselves are built into RoT. You don’t need to download them.

11. Why are all of the NPCs a different race (not human)?

ANSWER: Mods that change models (i.e. Hot Butter) need to be loaded above RoT.

12. How do I obtain a dragon?

ANSWER: There are two in-game ways you can obtain a dragon. The first is through Daenerys who has her three dragons: Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. To acquire them, the player has to defeat her in battle and take her as a prisoner after. Then, talk to her outside of a settlement and there will be an option to steal one of the three dragons. You can do this up to three times. Be careful when you mess with Daenerys though!

The second way to obtain a dragon is through an NPC named Gimli in the city of Mantary. He will tell you of a man named Maegor who has a stolen dragon egg. Once you find Maegor wandering around the same city, the player is given the option to duel him with the reward being a red dragon. Be wary about when you choose to duel him since you only get this option once!

Additionally, you can cheat and give yourself a dragon as well as the flying dragon (still a work in progress which is why it’s not in the full release and only accessible through the cheat menu). See the answer to question thirteen (14) for further instructions.

Note: If you can obtain a dragon in some way other than those listed here, it’s probably due to another mod (i.e. Royal Armoury FIX)

13. How do I control the dragon?

ANSWER: The controls are as follows:

F = Fire Breathing

FLYING DRAGONS ONLY

  • (NumPad) = take flightHold Space (looking up) = ascendHold Space (looking down) = descend (when close to the ground, the player will auto transition to ground state)

14. How do I obtain a flying dragon?

ANSWER: The flying dragons are still a work in progress. The only way to get them is by cheating. Open the in-game console (alt + tilde (~) at the same time), type config.cheat_mode1 and press enter, open your inventory and everything should now be available, and give yourself the flying dragon of your choice.
